Welcome to the Irish Association of Korea webpage.

The Irish Association of Korea (IAK) is a non-profit  organisation that promotes Irish culture in Korea by organising events that are interesting for Irish people and at the same time opportunities for Koreans and other nationalities to experience and learn more about Ireland and Irish culture. Among many events, the IAK organises in Seoul the annual St. Patrick’s Day festival in March which over 6,000 people participate in every year. We also have Ceili’s, sessions and other smaller meetups so there is always something to get involved in.

IAK 의 설립 취지는 한국 사회와 국민들에게 아일랜드 문화를 소개하고 널리 알리는 데 있습니다. 한국 내 아이리쉬 커뮤니티를 위해서는 고국의 정서를 느낄 수 있는 행사를 기획하고, 동시에 한국인들은 아일랜드 문화와 전통을 체험함으로써 아일랜드에 대해 보다 깊은 이해를 가질 수 있는 기회를 마련하고 있습니다.

IAK는 1996년 ‘St. Patrick’s Charity Ball’ 이라는 자선기금 행사에서 출발하였습니다. 이 행사는 그 후 꾸준히 이어져 겨울철 주요 행사 중 하나로 자리잡았고, 매년 펼쳐지는 St. Patrick’s Festival Hooley 라는 음악과 춤, 술과 음식이 어우러지는 축제로 발전하였습니다. 2001년 3월 17일 첫 번째 ‘세인트 패트릭스 데이 퍼레이드’가 서울에서 펼쳐진 이래는 IAK는 퍼레이드와 훌리 행사를 함께 기획해오고 있습니다.
