The I.A.K. is looking for you!

The IAK is a voluntary organisation and as such requires the participation of volunteers on a part time basis. The busiest months for the IAK are between December and March in the lead up to the St Patrick’s day Festival.  We also hold various smaller events throughout the year such as the September Ceili, music and dancing meet ups.

You can volunteer your time to the IAK as a committee member or as a regular volunteer for specials events. Your time, contribution and participation, no matter how small is welcome.

If you become a committee member during the months of December and March you will typically contribute between 4 and 5 hours of your week to the organisation and preparation of the upcoming events.

We welcome any volunteers from all nationalities with an interest or curiosity in Ireland and Irish culture.  (Being Irish is not a requirement to join the committee)

Currently, we are looking for volunteers to take the positions of secretary and treasurer.  Here is a little of what’s involved;

IAK Secretary Description:

  • Maintains records of committee meetings and IAK records
  • Email meeting agenda to committee
  • Manages minutes of committee meetings
  • Ensure minutes are distributed among members by E mail shortly after a meeting takes place
  • Maintains and updates IAK documents on Google Drive and Dropbox
  • Helps out with the organisation of IAK events in coordination with the committee
  • Liaises with other Irish community based organisations in Korea
  • Communicates regularly with the Chairperson, PRO and treasurer

They IAK Secretary should have the following:

  • Outgoing and bright personality
  • Positive attitude and patience
  • An interest in Ireland or Irish culture or willingness to learn about Irish culture
  • Basic computer skills
  • A love of Kakao Talk as a method of communication.
  • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures  and within a team

Benefits:

IAK Treasurer Description:

  • Attends some committee meetings
  • Manages the finances of the IAK
  • Administrates the financial aspects of the IAK
  • Provides updates and short informal reports on the finances of the IAK
  • Deposits money into the IAK account
  • Manages the payments for goods and services required to run the organization
  • Records the incoming and outgoings of the IAK account

The IAK Treasurer should have the following:

  • Outgoing and bright personality
  • Positive attitude
  • An interest in Ireland or Irish culture or willingness to learn about Irish culture
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to say “No” when a committee member wants to spend a ridiculous amount of money.
  • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures  and within a team
  • No sticky fingers
  • Ability not to spend all the money
